Business Logo (10 marks)

Please remember that you must have each phase of a product (Investigation, Design, Production) signed off by your regular teacher before you proceed to the next phase of that product.

Outline
You are to produce a company logo for your company using a graphics program such as Photoshop, PaintShopPro, Fireworks. MSPaint is not suitable for this task.

Investigation

Think of all the logos we looked at in the introduction (as well as others you may recall) and decide which ones (at least 3) you think are most effective/memorable and why. Try to focus on what makes the logo eye-catching or easy to remember, not necessarily how familiar it is because of the company's marketing strategy. Does it have a definite link to the product it is representing?

Design

Design on paper at least 3 different possible logos for your company and list the positive features of each. Can you identify any negative features? Decide on ONE of your designs with which to proceed and clearly record WHY you chose this design over the others.

Production

Plan for the printing of your logo in colour in three different sizes on a single A4 sheet of paper which will then be laminated. (The teachers will actually do the printing for you in the last week on the colour laser printer.)
An electronic copy of your logo should be used in other productions as appropriate.

Evaluation

Those group members not involved in the production of this logo should write a report indicating

  • - the good features of the logo
  • - what could have been improved

Remember that you need to be critical but also constructive. Try to be particular in your analysis.
